ASCENSION OF OUR LORD GREEK SCHOOL

Our Greek School offers two programs from September through May:  one for children and one for Adults/Adolescents.

For the first semester of the 2020-21 Ascension Greek School program, the Youth and Adult programs will operate remotely via Zoom meetings that will promote organized and structured distance learning.  This decision was made based on current health and safety protocols issued by local and state governments and the Metropolis of Chicago, as well as feedback from our Greek School families and students of our Adult Greek School program.  The decision to return to in-person learning later in the year will be constantly evaluated in light of current health and safety protocols.  Presently, distance learning will provide continuity to our Greek School program and is an excellent and safe way to enable our students to continue making progress in learning the Greek language.

YOUTH PROGRAM

TUESDAY EVENING CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AGES 4-15
(4:45 - 7 PM)

Our students are placed in language acquisition levels according to their language proficiency and age, in order to learn more effectively. Our focus is on conversation. Our teaching staff is highly educated and enthusiastic. In a warm and friendly environment our students learn the Greek language and Greek Orthodox tradition.  Our program also offers practice in Greek dancing. The series of books we use are accompanied by audio visual material that helps our students practice and learn in a more enjoyable way at school and home.  Upper-level students will receive practice for the Ellinomatheia exams.  In 2020 we are introducing new audio-visual educational material.

Due to health and safety concerns, we are going to start the 2020-21 school year remotely, via Zoom classes.  Detailed information about Youth Greek School distance learning classes can be found in the introduction of our registration page HERE.
