VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL 2023

ASCENSION’S VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL 2023 – SEE THE IMPACT OF A FUN & SPIRITUAL WEEK

What an inspiring week we just completed teaching 51 engaged and enthusiastic K-9th graders about Apostleship and how to live the Gospel and share the light of Christ with others!   Our church and fellowship building were alive with excitement and contagious energy! This summer’s VCS program also included a field trip to St. John Chrysostomos Greek Orthodox Monastery in Pleasant Prairie, WI as well as a service project preparing blessing bags for residents of the Greek American Nursing Home.   Thank you to our campers who showed great respect to our teachers and one another. A big thanks to our staff, donors and volunteers, as well as the parents who faithfully supported this program.

Ascension is excited to announce this summer's Vacation Church School, "Be the Light! Apostleship in Our Lives," which will take place July 31-August 4. The program, which is designed for rising K-9 graders, will focus on the Apostles of then and now to inspire our youth to live the Gospel and share the light of Christ with others.

We look forward to spending a fulfilling week together with our youth immersed in worship, outdoor activities, arts & crafts, and hands-on learning.

VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL 2022

August In early August, Ascension held the 2022 Vacation Church School program with 60 engaged Kindergarteners through 9th graders who spent an inspiring week learning about the lives of three important Saints: St. Luke the Surgeon, St. Paisios and St. Mardarije. Our church and fellowship building were alive with excitement and contagious energy! This summer’s VCS program also included a field trip to St. Sava Serbian Monastery for the campers to witness firsthand the lessons they learned about St. Mardarije and to venerate his Holy relics. The camp culminated after Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Transfiguration on August 6th with a very special program offered by our children who chanted beautiful hymns they learned throughout the week.

VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL - Summer 2021

Ascension's Vacation Church School (VCS) is offered during the summer for rising Kindergarteners through Eighth Graders!  Led by committed, enthusiastic and faithful volunteers, the week-long program will enable our youth to strengthen their Orthodox faith, worship together, participate in outdoor activities and have a blast hanging out with one another.  See information on the 2022 program above.

In the summer of 2021, Ascensions Vacation Church School was offered around the theme of "The Life of Panagia."   There was an abundance of exciting and contagious energy in our church brought on by the 44 children who attended! It was a week of learning about our Panagia; learning to chant hymns to Her; praying to Her; and, showing how much we love Her. New friendships were made and old friendships rekindled. Our campers even made it rain inside the fellowship hall! Photos from the week-long journey of faith are posted HERE.
